El PandaDiseñé originalmente este Panda durante las tres horas de barco que separan Buenos Aires de Montevideo, sobre el Rio de la Plata. El punto débil del prototipo eran las orejas que quedaban blancas por el lado de atrás. Para poder incluir este diseño en Origami para Intérpretes tuve que trabajar sobre el diseño y método de doblado de las orejas. Intenté unas 6 o 7 orejas diferentes hasta dar con las que aparecen ahora en el diagrama. Ahora las orejas son, a mi gusto, uno de los puntos altos de la secuencia de doblado. El modelo es de dificultad intermedia, y tanto los probadores del diagrama como unos 10 o 12 plegadores de varios niveles que lo doblaron en las convenciones de Barcelona y Francia, lo pudieron terminar sin problemas mayores. La figura se centra en la cara del Panda estando el cuerpo, brazos y piernas prácticamente esbozados. El cuerpo es hueco, con una fuerte referencia el Panda de Hideo Komatsu. Es imposible diseñar un Panda de origami sin pensar en todos los excelente diseños que ya existen, de una y de dos piezas. Espero que este modelo se integre como uno más a la numerosa comunidad de los Pandas de papel. |
 The
PandaI originally designed this Panda in the three hours that it takes a boat to cross the Rio de la Plata from Buenos Aires to Montevideo. The weak point of the prototype was the ears, because they remained white on the back side. In order to include this model in "Origami for Interpreters" I wanted to improve the design and folding method for the ears. I tried some 6 or 7 different ears until I came up with the ones in the diagrammed model. The ears are now, to my taste, one of the highlights of the folding sequence. The model is of intermediate difficulty. The test folders and the 10 or 12 folders that attempted it in the Barcelona and French Conventions could finish it with no major problems. The figure focuses on the Panda's face; just a hint of the body and limbs is given. The body is hollow; a strong reference of Hideo Komatsu's Panda. It is impossible to design a Panda and not think about all the excellent designs that already exist, from one and from two sheets.
